Wes Moore who is the Democratic Party candidate for the Maryland gubernatorial election won 62.1% of the total votes and had 1,062,226 votes to beat Dan Cox of the Republican Party who polled 595,763 votes. Moore became the first Black governor of the state and the third Black person elected as governor of a state in the United States. An American politician, investment banker, author, and television producer, Moore was CEO of the Robin Hood Foundation, a charitable organization that attempts to ease problems caused by poverty in New York City.
